They have flights, or samplers, to make it easy to sample the 16 beers on tap at the Basecamp Brewpub, including year-round offerings and seasonal brews, plus some of their experimental beers. Spending a whole day there gave us time to try a few different beers. The Outpost Tap Room & Kitchen is located on a beautiful hillside in Lexington and houses the custom-built brewery, bottling and canning lines, taproom with fast-casual dining, and outdoor beer garden. Overall, very disappointing throughout - from the lack of hops to no real malt presence and the tartness/fruits/herbs in the nose and nothing in the flavour and the biggest let-down is the color! Definitely worth passing up entirely and forgetting you even saw this one! I sampled this sixteen ounce, pint-sized can, purchased from The Sperryville Corner Store in Sperryville, Virginia on 18-June-2022 for US$3,77, with a 'Best By' date of 15-September-2022 and sampled at my house here in Washington on 27-June-2022. Beer, of course, is the foundation of Devils Backbone. The flagship Devils Backbone Brewing Company in Roseland was such a success that it required an outpost facility to keep up with production.

Aftertaste is funky also with a slight dry characteristic and some honey-like notes, but there is still no hops nor alpha acids here to draw on, and only a bit of the malty component that shows past the funky grainy yeastie and bitterness. Now these deserving pups will get a celebrated spot on this favorite, award-winning lager from Devils. Light to Medium-bodied Odd biscuity, slightly grainy and herbal flavours show at first with a deep yeastie and breadie flavour right behind that leaves a bitterness and funky finish with no hops or tartness at all.
